A memorial is growing for two Tsawwassen First Nations elders who were killed Wednesday during the Truth and Reconciliation walk at Tsawwassen Mills Mall.
On Thursday afternoon, the Tsawwassen First Nation posted their condolences for both Elder Barb Joe and Elder Virginia Splockton’s passing on social media.
Delta Police Department (DPD) continue to investigate what caused a truck to strike four pedestrians shortly after 10:25 a.m.
The investigation so far shows the driver of the truck suffered a medical emergency, causing the truck to crash into the pedestrians.
Police are not releasing the name of the deceased at the moment while they work with the BC Coroners Service and support the families affected.

The driver of the truck received medical care on scene and was taken to hospital, where they were later released. DPD states the driver was interviewed and no charges have been sworn.
Police also say there is no information to suggest the crash was intentional and are continuing to investigate the medical emergency the driver experienced.
Investigators say the collision was not related to the walk that was taking place in another area of the Tsawwassen Mills Mall property. There was a scheduled House Post unveiling at the area where the crash occurred.
Staff Sgt. Mike Whiteley of the DPD, commented on Thursday that the police recognize the impact the incident has had on the community.
“Our investigators are working diligently to determine exactly what occurred and to conduct a thorough investigation into all of the circumstances surrounding this collision,” said Whiteley.
Investigators are still looking for information that can help the investigation. Anyone who witnesses the incident, has dashcam or cellphone footage is asked to contact the DPD at 604-946-4444 and reference file 26-18401.
