The North Vancouver RCMP says it is investigating after a series of assaults targeting individuals using the Grindr app.
Police say they received two separate reports, on Aug. 27 and Aug. 31.
“In both instances, victims reported that they had been communicating with an individual through Grindr and agreed to meet in person,” Mounties said.
“Upon arrival, both victims were confronted by groups of young people and assaulted or threatened. Both incidents also involved damage to the victims’ vehicles.”
Investigators say they reviewed CCTV footage and have identified a third assault, which had not been reported to police. The RCMP says it is looking to identify the victim of this incident, which took place Aug. 29 near Ross Road Elementary School.
The RCMP says it appears the three attacks are connected.
“We are deeply concerned by these incidents and are pursuing all available avenues to identify those responsible,” said Cst. Paul Reece.
“We encourage anyone with information or video that could assist our investigation to contact police.”
