Advanced voting draws record turnout in Vancouver

On Oct. 3, Vancouver had its first advanced voting day with 59 polling stations being open across the city.

According to the City of Vancouver, they saw their greatest turn out – setting a new record for advance voting.

The City told CityNews in an email that approximately 21,824 people voted on Saturday, a 196 per cent increase from the first advance day in 2022.

“Together, we achieved a new record for advance voting,” said the statement.

Advance voting will also be available on Oct. 7, Oct. 10, and Oct. 13 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Vote-by-mail requests were also made at a record amount.

An online statement by the City of Vancouver said that more than 18,000 vote-by-mail packages had been requested.

This is an increase of more than 70 per cent over the 2022 Vancouver election.

A list of polling locations can be found online.

Election day is Oct. 17.
