RCMP, IHIT investigating homicide outside Langley restaurant

The Langley RCMP says it is investigating a homicide that took place outside a restaurant late Monday evening.

Police say first responders were called to the parking lot of the Cactus Club Cafe, located on 200 Street near the Langley Bypass, at around 9:45 p.m.

When crews arrived, they found one person in medical distress.

“Despite life-saving efforts, the individual succumbed to their injuries at the scene,” said Sgt. Zynal Sharoom.

“The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called in.”

Photos taken at the scene show a white Range Rover with a damaged driver-side window. The window appears to have bullet holes. However, the nature of the damage is unconfirmed.

Then, just after 10 p.m., RCMP officers responded to a report of a vehicle fire in the area of 232 Street and 75 Avenue. Police say they are working to determine if there are any links between the fire and the shooting.

As of Tuesday, officers remain in the area as the investigation continues.
