Large seizure of drugs, weapons during joint investigation in Kamloops

Police seized a large quantity of drugs and weapons during a joint investigation in Kamloops last month.

Kamloops RCMP and the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia’s (CFSEU-BC) Uniform Gang Enforcement Team (UGET) spent several days conducting education initiatives and targeted enforcement activities.

From Sept. 24 to 26, several people were arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking.  A large seizure of drugs and weapons was also part of the joint operation.

Among the seized items were:

  • a loaded .44-calibre gun;
  • a large amount of suspected illicit substances; including fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine.
  • 22 other weapons; including brass knuckles, airsoft guns, batons, bear spray, knives and axes.
  • about $5,000 in Canadian cash .

The UGET ran their Proactive Interdiction and Enforcement Tactics (PIET) workshop for the Kamloops RCMP to help them identify, investigate and disrupt gang-related and organized crime activity in their communities.

The PIET workshops continue to be rolled out to other police agencies across British Columbia.
