A man caught speeding by BC Highway Patrol (BCHP) has had his muscle car impounded for the second time.
The driver blamed his Dodge Challenger Hemi R/T for getting two excessive speed impounds from BCHP – in two different parts of BC.
The 59-year-old Vernon man was stopped on Oct. 2 around 10:15 a.m. by a BCHP officer.
BCHP says that the man was going 151 km/h in a 100 zone.
Police realized that the man had also lost his car to a BCHP excessive speed impound in June of 2025 in Falkland.
“The driver of the Dodge Challenger said his car was ‘too fast,’ but our officer pointed out that there are two pedals,” said Sgt. Michael McLaughlin with BC Highway Patrol. “We’d like to invite all drivers to experiment with using the ‘go fast’ pedal a little less.”
The man received tickets for the following:
“We stop drivers of all ages who are speeding excessively,” says Sgt. McLaughlin, “but arguably, drivers of this age should really know better.”
The total cost to the speeding driver is upwards of $2500.
