Police in Mission reported finding a large cache of guns after officers in the Crime Reduction Unit conducted a traffic stop on a car that was exhibiting “suspicious behaviour.”

On Oct. 14, Mission RCMP say an officer pulled over the car on Lougheed Highway near Wren Street.

The two men in the car were in their early 20s and from the Cariboo area. Police say neither could explain why they were in Mission or where they were going.

The suspects also said they didn’t know the contents of a large duffel bag that was in the backseat of the car.

Officers investigated the duffel bag and found that it was full of illegal guns. The guns, as well as other items in the bag, were seized and police believe the items may have been stolen during a break and enter.

Both men were arrested for firearms related offences and have since been released. The investigation is ongoing.

RCMP are seeking information on the guns and asks that anyone who recognizes them contact the Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161 and quote file #2026-13571.
