It’s an exciting time for women’s professional hockey in the city. The Vancouver Goldeneyes have unveiled their new design for the upcoming winter season — a deeply symbolic look inspired by the Pacific Northwest.
Captain Ashton Bell and forward Jenn Gardiner modelled the new jerseys alongside other players from the team.
“I’m obsessed with them and can’t wait to rep them here soon,” Bell said.
“They added so many cool touches to make it special to Vancouver and to our team.”

The new look features the striking Goldeneyes logo encircled by wings, with the outer corner of the eye pointing up and to the left, in the direction of the northwest.
Team members say they are excited about wearing the new jerseys for the upcoming season, seeing the logo as a symbol that unites not just the team, but the whole community.
Gardiner is grateful for the support.
“I look around the building right now and it’s all over pillars, centre ice, our locker room is decked out, and this is something that you don’t see often in women’s sports, and especially in hockey,” she said.
“We are the only team with our own rink in the PWHL, and that is so special. We don’t take it for granted to have this building and to have this city cheering for us.”

And it isn’t just the team members who are happy with the new look. Season ticket holders were excited to get dibs on the fresh jerseys.
“It looks pretty slick,” one told CityNews. “I’m excited they get to wear this in the season.”
For longtime hockey fans, the excitement goes beyond the new jerseys. They say seeing women’s professional hockey take off in Vancouver is something they’ve been waiting a long time for.
“I’m going to age myself, but I’m 41 and I was playing hockey since I was this high, and to see this opportunity for these young girls coming up is incredible, the fact that they have something to look forward to,” another fan said.
“After high school, I really had nothing after that.”
For the players, the support they receive from fans comes with an opportunity to be role models.
“The impact I am able to have in the community, I try to embrace it and make the most out of everything,” Gardiner said.
The team is inspiring the next generation of girls through their careers as professional athletes.

“This team means so much to me, and I learn so much from them,” said Pailee, a young fan.
The Vancouver Goldeneyes will get a chance to rock the new jerseys at their official home opener Dec. 5 at the Pacific Coliseum.
