One person has died after their vehicle hit a tree early Friday morning, the Burnaby RCMP says.

Police say emergency crews were called to the area of North Fraser Way and Fraserton Court around 4 a.m.

“Despite life-saving efforts, the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle did not survive,” the RCMP said.

The roadway in the area was closed for several hours following the crash but has since reopened.

Investigators ask witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage from the area between 3:15 and 4:15 a.m. Friday to call the Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999.
