A fire discovered beneath Gilmore SkyTrain Station in Burnaby early Wednesday had commuters scrambling after several stations were closed to deal with it.
According to TransLink, Gilmore, Rupert, and Brentwood stations were all shut down as crews investigated.
The Burnaby Fire Department said it was alerted to the blaze shortly before 6 a.m. When they arrived at the scene, they found the fire was at ground level in the SkyTrain concourse.

“A wraparound bench surrounding a pillar supporting the elevated SkyTrain platform was fully involved,” Deputy Fire Chief Tyler O’Neill told CityNews.
“The fire was impinging on the platform above, and crews observed spalling of the concrete pillar.”
Metro Vancouver Transit Police (MVTP) said a bus bridge was set up to deal with the diversion.
As of shortly after 11 a.m., SkyTrain service has been restored, according to TransLink.
