According to police, the RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit’s (SPOSU) Vulnerable Persons Unit began investigating, and on Nov. 28, a suspect was arrested. Police add he was released without charges pending further investigation.
On Jan. 31 this year, police received another report from a man who said that he had been sexually assaulted at an apartment in the same neighbourhood.
“Investigators executed a search warrant at the apartment and arrested the male suspect,” Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton shared in an update on Wednesday.
The 40-year-old man is now facing charges of assault, sexual assault, uttering threats, choking, and unlawful confinement. He remains in custody awaiting his next court appearance set for Feb. 25.
Police add that they are releasing a photo of the suspect, William “Alex” Kroesen, as they believe people in Surrey have “additional information that will assist in advancing these investigations.”
