Vancouver crews knock down Kitsilano garage fire

Streets in Vancouver’s Kitsilano neighbourhood were closed Monday night after a detached garage caught fire.

Vancouver Fire Rescue Service Assistant Chief Brad Hesse tells 1130 NewsRadio crews were called to the scene near West Broadway and Larch Street around 8:30 p.m.

Hesse says a fire in a detached two-car garage on the back lane of 10th Avenue was “fully involved” when firefighters arrived.

“On scene, they found that flames were already shooting through the roof,” he said.

But VFRS managed to contain the flames to the garage, and Hesse says no one was injured and there was no damage done to surrounding structures.
