A business in Surrey was sprayed with gunfire early Thursday for the second time, another in the string of extortion shootings.

The Surrey Police Service says the shooting happened at about 3:30 a.m. at Star Auto Body in the area of 82 Avenue and 124 Street.

Police say a suspect fired shots at the business and then left in a dark-coloured vehicle.

No one was in the building at the time and there were no injuries, police said. This is the second time that Star Auto Body has been targeted in a shooting.

Police say at 7:45 a.m., an employee arriving for work spotted the damage and called police.

Anyone with information about this incident, including CCTV or dashcam footage, or who may know the identities of the suspects is asked to contact SPS’s non-emergency line at 604-599-0502, the Surrey extortion tip lineat 236-485-5149, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or solvecrime.ca.

There have been more than 130 extortions reported in Abbotsford and Surrey so far this year.
