A man suspected of stabbing another man in a Vancouver SRO Thursday has been charged, police say.

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) says it responded to the residence at East Hastings Street near Columbia Street shortly after midnight.

“Officers found the 39-year-old victim in his room bleeding profusely. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment of his injuries,” said a VPD statement Friday.

Const. Darren Wong says police also located a suspect nearby and arrested him “without incident.”

The BC Prosecution Service has since charged a 46-year-old man with aggravated assault.

Wong says the victim is expected to live, and it’s too early to determine the motive.

The suspect remains in custody.
