Environment Canada reissued a yellow rainfall warning — the lowest of three levels in terms of risk — early Monday, predicting 75 to 150 millimetres of rain through the end of the day across Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, including Surrey, Langley, Burnaby, the North Shore, Maple Ridge and Coquitlam.

As much as 150 to 200 mm could douse the Howe Sound area.

“The heavy rain will gradually ease tonight as the atmospheric river shifts north and weakens,” said the weather agency in its updated warning early Monday.

Water is likely to pool on roads and in low-lying areas and visibility will be suddenly reduced at times. Drivers should also keep watch as landslides are possible along steep slopes and in deforested areas.

Flood watches are in effect for most of the region, including Vancouver Island as streamflows rise.
