Multiple emergency crews responded, and police shut down traffic in the area for several hours.
BC Emergency Health Services says paramedics treated one patient who was taken to hospital in “serious, but stable, condition.”
In an update Friday, the VPD confirmed the victim, a 39-year-old woman, is still in hospital in stable condition.
Police say the driver was operating a black Kenworth dump truck when they struck the woman.
“The driver of the dump truck continued driving westbound and may be unaware of the collision,” Const. Megan Lui claimed.
“Investigators have not spoken with the driver and are asking the driver, or anyone who saw what happened to call police immediately.”
Witnesses or anyone with dashcam video of the incident are asked to contact the VPD Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-3012.
