Police say responding officers found a man suffering from life-threatening injuries.

“He was transported to hospital; however, despite medical efforts, he did not survive,” said Sgt. Paul Walker.

The AbbyPD says the Lower Mainland’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is now working to determine the circumstances of “what is believed to be a targeted incident.”

Police say no arrests have been made as of Tuesday morning.

In an update Tuesday afternoon, IHIT identified the victim as a 69-year-old man, who was a resident of the encampment.

“His name is not being released at this time as family notifications are still underway,” IHIT stated.

It added that the shooting is not believed to be connected to gang activity or extortion.

Witnesses or anyone with information about the incident are asked to contact the investigators at 1-877-551-4448.
