After that, the suppression service classified it to be “being held”, which means it is expected “to remain within the current perimeter, control line or boundary.”
Currently, the fire is 3.6 hectares and burning east of Highway 1, less than 12 kilometres south of Lytton.
The village is located within the Kamloops Fire Centre.
“We are responding to this incident alongside Lytton Fire and Rescue and RCMP,” the Kamloops Fire Centre information team told CityNews.
“The incident is displaying rank 1 and 2 fire behaviour, meaning a smouldering ground fire with some visible open flame and a slow rate of spread,” it added.
No evacuations have been ordered.
Lytton, situated in the Fraser Canyon, often records the highest temperature in Canada due to strong winds.
Much of the village was burned down in a fast-moving wildfire in 2021, and many structures have not yet been rebuilt.
