Driver arrested after hitting a pedestrian in Abbotsford; alcohol is a factor

The Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) says it is investigating after a serious crash involving a pedestrian Friday afternoon.

Police say the driver has been arrested, and alcohol is a factor.

Police were called to the intersection of Emerson Street and Simon Avenue shortly after 3:30 p.m.

“Emergency crews arrived on scene and found a pedestrian suffering from serious injuries after being struck by an SUV,” police said.

“The involved vehicle initially left the scene but returned a short time later. The female driver was arrested at the scene.”

The pedestrian has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) has been called in.

The intersection will likely be closed for several hours, the AbbyPD says.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has dash cam footage is asked to call the AbbyPD at 604-859-5225 and refer to file 2026-18393.
