Emergency responders found a white Dodge pickup truck with “significant” damage to its front end. Police say the driver had also struck a pedestrian, who “sadly succumbed to his injuries at the scene.”
Police say the driver remained at the scene, where he was arrested for impaired driving.

In an update Friday, the AbbyPD says the BC Prosecution Service last week charged a 29-year-old man with one count each of impaired operation of a vehicle causing death, driving over 80 kilometres per hour causing death and dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death.
“Incidents of this nature carry deep and lasting impacts, extending far beyond those directly involved,” said a police statement.
“Families, friends, and loved ones often experience significant and enduring grief, with effects that can ripple throughout the broader community. These tragedies serve as a stark reminder of the serious consequences associated with impaired and dangerous driving, and reinforce the importance of prevention, accountability, and continued public safety efforts.”
