On Friday at about 1 p.m., Surrey Police Service (SPS), responded to a building near Holland Park for the report of an assault.
When they reached the scene, they found two victims suffering from stab wounds and the suspect had fled, stated a release from the SPS.

According to police, the man was found nearby.
SPS says a confrontation between police and the suspect took place.
According to the release, officers fired their weapons at the suspect, who was seriously injured. He was seriously injured and was taken to hospital where he later died.
SPS members and BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) administered emergency medical interventions to both victims. One died on scene. The other is in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

SPS notified the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) of the incident in Surrey and they will be taking over the investigation.
The Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia (IIO BC) has been informed of the incident to review police actions.
The independent, civilian-led body is conducting its own investigation.
