The man accused of a vehicle rampage in Vancouver’s West End that left a senior dead is now facing murder charges.
Tadd Bali faces additional charges of second degree murder and attempted murder as well as two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, said Vancouver police.
Police allege that on May 15, Bali deliberately drove a Jeep onto the sidewalk near Comox and Broughton Street, hitting a senior on a mobility scooter before ramming a police vehicle responding to the incident.
The senior died in hospital on May 24. Two Vancouver Police Department officers were injured, but were released from hospital the same day.
Bali, who has a history of police interactions in B.C. and Saskatchewan, remains in custody.
Manslaughter charge in East Vancouver homicide
A man has been charged in the stabbing death of another man in East Vancouver last year.
The Vancouver police say David Richard Morin is charged with manslaughter in the death of 54-year-old Michael Smadu Easton on Sept. 3, 2025.
Officers were called to a home near East 6th Avenue and Fraser Street just before 1 a.m. for a man who had been stabbed. Despite attempts by first responders to save his life, Easton died before he could be taken to hospital.
Morin, 32, is in custody and made his first court appearance on the manslaughter charge Friday.
His next court appearance is scheduled for July 3.

Gang enforcement officers seize drugs, gun in Nanaimo

B.C.’s gang enforcement officers have seized illicit drugs and a gun after a suspect fled from police during a gang raid in Nanaimo.
The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of B.C. was sent to Nanaimo last weekend as part of an effort to crack down on gang activity in the city.
On Friday, officers were patrolling the area of Strickland Avenue and Robin Street, a location known for drug trafficking. Police tried to stop a suspect vehicle, but instead the driver fled the area.
Police co-ordinated with partner agencies and the RCMP’s air services to track the suspects. A woman, who was the passenger in the vehicle, was arrested and the man driving the car was arrested a short distance away, according to police.
Officers seized more than one kilogram of suspected illicit drugs, including suspected cocaine, fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine and illicit pills. Officers also seized a .22-calibre pen gun concealed inside the bag.
The pair face charges related to drug trafficking and firearms offences.
Langley RCMP investigate shots fired at a residence
Gun shots were fired at a house in Langley early Friday.
Langley RCMP say that shortly before 1 a.m. officers responded to a report of shots being fired in the 21500-block of 46A Avenue. Officers found evidence consistent with shots having been fired at a residence. No one was injured but the property was damaged.
Investigators are working to determine whether this incident is linked to extortion activities or the continuing gang conflict. Anyone with information about the shooting, or who has video footage, is asked to contact the Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200.
