A police investigation led to the discovery of 41 neglected dogs being housed by an irresponsible breeder in Surrey, says Surrey Police Service (SPS) and the BC SPCA.
SPS officers were called to a home near 84th Avenue and 192 Street on July 1st due to reports of a suspicious man, reports police.
When police arrived, they took the man into custody and found a residence that related to him.
Officers then entered the home and found 41 dogs in various states of distress, neglect, and health, says police.
SPS officers say they brought in a local veterinarian to examine the dogs and found that they were allegedly suffering from a plethora of health and medical conditions.

Due to the veterinarian’s observations, the SPS opened a neglect and cruelty to animals-related investigation.
SPS says they contacted the BC SPCA to help seize all the dogs on July 2nd.
The dogs remain in the care of the BC SPCA.
The dogs are undergoing various treatments for conditions such as ear infections, skin issues, dental disease, cherry eye, entropion, heart murmurs and nasal issues, according to the BC SPCA.
The BC SPCA state they are providing each dog with “an individual care plan.”
They highlight one dog, who has been named Clover, who apparently needs multiple specialist surgeries to “correct her severe ear, eye and breathing issues.” The investigation is ongoing by the SPS and no one has been charged yet.
