The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) says it is investigating after an unprovoked assault involving a longboard-style skateboard at a bus stop in the Marpole neighbourhood July 7.

Police say a man was waiting for a bus near Southwest Marine Drive and Ash Street shortly before 9:30 a.m., when he was approached from behind by a male suspect. The suspect then allegedly pushed him and ripped his headphones off his head.

“The suspect then allegedly struck the victim multiple times with a longboard-style skateboard,” the VPD said.

“The victim managed to flee the scene while calling 911. He sustained minor injuries to his forearm.”

Police have released a cellphone photo of the suspect.
