Campfire ban for B.C.’s South Coast takes effect Thursday

A campfire ban is coming into effect this week for B.C.’s south coast.

The BC Wildfire Service says the move is intended to reduce the risk of human-caused wildfires.

The ban is in effect for the Lower Mainland, Sea-to-Sky corridor, Vancouver Island, the Central Coast, and Haida Gwaii.

There are exceptions in some parts of the North Island and the Sunshine Coast.

The ban goes into effect on Thursday, July 15, at 12 p.m.
