Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) are seeking assistance in finding an unknown man who assaulted a woman in the bathroom at Ellwood Park, Thursday morning.

At around 6:40 a.m., the woman, who is in her 70s, was in the washroom at the park when an unknown man entered and assaulted her, says AbbyPD.

After the suspect left the area, the woman looked for help. 

She had injuries that required medical attention, so she was taken to hospital, where she was treated and released, says police. 

AbbyPD say they searched the area of the park, located in the 31500 block of Maclure Road, but did not find the suspect.  

AbbyPD’s Forensic Identification Section was called in to aid in the investigation and look for evidence. 

The police say the investigation is in the early stages but appears to be random. 

A canvass of the area for video to help identify the suspect is underway, says AbbyPD.

AbbyPD is seeking witnesses who may have been in the area of Ellwood Park between 6 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. on July 16 to contact them with any information or dashcam footage to contact them.
