Vancouver police looking for help identifying deceased man

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) says it is turning to the public for help identifying a man who was found in medical distress last month and subsequently died.

Police say he was found on a sidewalk near Keefer and Columbia streets Sept. 7. He was taken to hospital and passed away Sept. 11.

Foul play is not suspected, and the VPD says it is not conducting a criminal investigation.

“Attempts to identify the man through DNA, missing person reports, and police databases have been unsuccessful,” police said.

“The deceased man appears to be white, between 45 and 60 years old, and 180 pounds. He had short grey/brown hair, brown eyes, and dentures, and a tattoo of an anchor on his upper left arm.”

The VPD released a picture of the tattoo in the hopes someone may recognize it.

Anyone with information is asked to call the VPD’s Missing Person Unit at 604-717-2530.
