The driver of a large commercial truck escaped serious injury after jumping from his moving vehicle before a crash in New Westminster Monday, police say.
The New Westminster Police Department (NWPD) says the truck had been making a permitted delivery in the area of Holmes and East Columbia streets when it rolled into a wooded area.
Photos taken at the scene show the badly damaged truck on its side in multiple pieces.

Police say a metal railing pierced the driver’s seat after the crash, but the driver had already gotten out.
BC Emergency Health Services says it was called to the crash shortly after 2 p.m. One person was treated at the scene and then taken to hospital.
The cause of the incident is unclear.
