Burnaby RCMP are investigating a reported sexual assault that took place along the BC Parkway near Ron McLean Park earlier this week.

Police say the incident occurred on Aug. 4 between 5:15 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. as a woman was walking eastbound on the pathway near Rumble Street and Hedley Avenue.

According to police, an unknown man approached the woman from behind, passed her and allegedly struck her on the buttocks before leaving the area on foot.

The suspect is described as approximately 5’5” with a medium build. At the time of the incident, he was reportedly wearing a white T-shirt and loose-fitting black shorts.

RCMP said investigators are working to gather additional evidence and identify the suspect.
