The RCMP says it is investigating after a pedestrian died following a crash in North Burnaby Monday evening.

Officers say they were called to the scene of the collision, located in the area of Pender Street and MacDonald Avenue, shortly after 6:30 p.m.

When they arrived, they found the woman, a 68-year-old Burnaby resident, suffering from serious injuries, Mounties say.

“She received emergency medical aid at the scene and was transported to hospital but did not survive,” police said in a news release.

“The driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.”

Mounties say the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) has been called in to help collect evidence at the scene.

“Work is continuing to determine the circumstances leading up to the fatal collision,” the news release said.
