A man involved in a drug trafficking network operating in Chilliwack, Abbotsford, and Langley has been sentenced to 11.5 years in prison.
The Chilliwack RCMP says an investigation was launched in April after Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) officers witnessed a known drug trafficker driving a car while prohibited from driving. When officers pulled him over and arrested him, they found drugs and a handgun in his possession.
Police executed multiple search warrants — two in Abbotsford, one in Langley — on June 29, the RCMP says, leading to three arrests and the seizure of firearms and suspected controlled substances, as well as vehicles and $45,000 in cash.
Substances seized included methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl.
On July 2, Tyler Missen of Langley was charged with several drug trafficking and firearms offences, police say. He then pleaded guilty while in custody.
Missen was sentenced Aug. 26. He still has 10 years and 10 months remaining of his sentence after taking into account time served, the RCMP says.
“This sentence reflects the serious consequences associated with trafficking dangerous drugs and illegally possessing firearms,” said Cpl. Stephan Mendela.
“This investigation removed significant quantities of harmful drugs from our communities and demonstrates the impact of strong partnerships between law enforcement agencies.”
The Chilliwack RCMP says the investigation involved AbbyPD, the Langley RCMP, and the Integrated Emergency Response Team (IERT).
