New Westminster police are asking for witnesses and dash cam footage after an alleged road rage incident in which a driver brandished a weapon.

The New Westminster Police Department (NWPD) says officers received a call at approximately 4:15 p.m. on Sept. 2 from a driver who reported that another motorist got out of his vehicle and allegedly displayed a weapon.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Sixth Avenue and Eighth Street.

Police describe the suspect as a man in his 40s with a slim build, a mustache, and balding hair. He was driving a red Dodge Ram.

“Brandishing weapons in traffic is not acceptable,” Sgt. Andrew Leaver said in a statement.

“We’re now asking the public to help us in our investigation by passing along any relevant dash-cam footage.”

Investigators are seeking anyone who was in the area between 4:10 p.m. and 4:20 p.m. and may have witnessed the incident or captured it on dash cam.
