Two Cariboo hunters have pleaded guilty to hunting without consideration for the lives, safety, or property of others, according to the B.C. Conservation Officer Service.

The incident happened on Oct. 8, 2022, when Kristen Johnny and Colin Williams entered a privately owned field while hunting.

Conservation officers said the pair accessed the property between 10:44 p.m. and 11:08 p.m., well after legal hunting hours had ended. Sunset that day was at 6:31 p.m., and provincial regulations prohibit hunting after sunset.

While on the property, Johnny and Williams killed a mule deer buck.

The two recently appeared in Williams Lake provincial court, where they each pleaded guilty to the offence.

Both hunters were fined $2,500 and ordered to pay a $375 victim surcharge.
