A man has been convicted of second‑degree murder in the 2023 killing of 56‑year‑old Robb Memory in Surrey.

A jury found Paul John Martin guilty on Sept. 18 in B.C. Supreme Court in New Westminster.

Memory was killed in August 2023 after Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious death at a home near 191 Street and 68 Avenue.

Officers identified a suspect at the scene and took him into custody.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) took over the investigation and worked to determine what led to Memory’s death.

In September 2023, the B.C. Prosecution Service approved one count of second‑degree murder against Martin, who remained in custody throughout the court process.

The trial began on March 23 and concluded on May 15.

The case is scheduled to return to court on Sept. 24 to set a date for sentencing.

“The guilty verdict was the result of collaborative efforts between IHIT and our policing partners, and the work of Crown Counsel at B.C. Prosecution Service,” Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT said in a statement.
