An early Tuesday morning apartment fire in Burnaby has left one person dead.
Around 4:30 a.m., Burnaby Fire Department (BFD) responded to a call at a residential high-rise on Grange Street, near Barker Avenue, where the third floor was on fire, police say.
The Burnaby RCMP also attended the site to assist with crowd control, evacuation and shutting down the street to traffic.
BFD completed a search while working to fight the fire and found one man dead in the affected apartment.
Investigators from Burnaby RCMP’s Investigative Support Team and arson investigators have now taken over.
The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
