The driver of a pickup truck is under arrest after the vehicle crashed into a building, split in half and burst into flames early Friday morning.
The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) says the incident happened around 1:30 a.m., near Renfrew Street and East 22nd Avenue, when a grey GMC Sierra travelling southbound struck another vehicle.
According to a witness, the pickup truck then left the roadway and crashed into a nearby nursing home.
When VPD officers arrived on scene, the pickup truck was completely engulfed in flames.
Both the pickup driver and its passenger were taken to hospital. There were no injuries to the people in the other car or in the building.
The 34-year-old driver was arrested after being assessed at hospital and faces charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
He was also served with a Notice of Driving Prohibition for 90 days. He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
The investigation is ongoing, and police have seized the burned GMC Sierra.
