Police in Nanaimo are appealing to the public for help in identifying a suspect in an alleged unwanted touching incident that took place in September.
RCMP say that just after 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 17, in downtown Nanaimo, a woman reported that she had been walking southbound after crossing Front Street near Port Place Mall when a stranger grabbed her.
The man jumped on bus #40 right after – which takes passengers to Vancouver Island University.
The suspect is described as being in his late 20s, about five foot seven inches tall, with a medium build and sandy/reddish hair. He was wearing a black hoodie at the time.

Despite getting photos of the suspect from inside the BC Transit bus, police have been unable to identify the man.
“This type of behaviour is concerning and will not be tolerated in our community,” said Insp. Donovan Tait, Operations Officer with the Nanaimo RCMP.
“We are asking anyone who recognizes the individual in these images, or who has information about this incident, to contact police. Even seemingly minor details can play an important role in advancing an investigation.”
