The driver of a farm tractor sustained serious, life-threatening injuries after colliding with a pickup truck in Abbotsford Monday night, police say.

The Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) says it happened just after 7 p.m. on Vye Road east of Cole Road.

“Preliminary evidence indicates both vehicles were travelling westbound on Vye Road when the pickup truck collided with the rear of the tractor,” AbbyPD said.

“The impact caused the tractor to leave the roadway and roll over.”

The tractor driver was airlifted to hospital for treatment, police say.

The driver of the pickup truck was not seriously injured and is cooperating with investigators.

AbbyPD says alcohol is not considered to have been a factor. The circumstances are under investigation.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have video footage is asked to call police.
