Surrey Fire Services (SFS) says it knocked down a blaze at a home in the city’s Bridgeview neighbourhood Thursday night.

The department says it was called to the house, located in the area of Olsen Road near Old Yale Road, around 11 p.m.

Crews say when they arrived, they found heavy smoke on the first and second floors.

Nobody was inside the home, SFS says. However, one person is believed to have been displaced by the blaze, which crews say completely “gutted” the house.

Pictures from the scene show smoke billowing from the home’s roof, which appears to have been damaged by the blaze.

BC Emergency Health Services says an ambulance was sent to the scene on standby, but no patients were taken to hospital.

The cause of the fire is unclear.
