Update: Random sexual assault in Abbotsford
Police have released a sketch of a suspect in an apparently random sexual assault in an Abbotsford park late last month.
A woman reported being sexually assaulted by a stranger in Mill Lake Park at 6:40 p.m. on March 24.
She said she was assaulted while walking west on the path beside the lake, between Ashley Way and Alta Avenue.

“She was alone when an unknown man approached her, asking for assistance to take a photo with his cellphone,” said Sgt. Paul Walker. She was allegedly assaulted during the encounter and “although shaken, she was not injured.”
On April 4, police released a composite sketch of a suspect, described as a man in his 30s, about five-foot-eight with a medium build, short black hair and a short black beard. He was wearing black pants, a black and white short rain jacket with white in the chest area, and was carrying a black umbrella.
Walker said investigators think it was a random incident, and no suspect has been identified or arrested.
Any potential witnesses who were in the park between 6 and 7 p.m. on Monday, March 24, are asked to call the major crime unit at 604-859-5225.
