Police in New Westminster say on Monday that two suspects connected to a gunshot incident in January have been arrested, and at least one is facing charges.
“38-year-old Amman Crafton of New Westminster has since been charged with one count of unauthorized possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm contrary to Section 95 of the Criminal Code of Canada,” according to a statement from the New Westminster Police Department (NWPD).

On Jan. 9, around 3 a.m., patrolling officers from the NWPD located a man in apparent distress who was suffering from gunshot injuries near the SkyBridge on Columbia Street.
The man was later taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Together with the Street Crime Unit and the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team, the Major Crime Unit launched an investigation which resulted in the arrests of the two suspects.
Additionally, officers seized a firearm.
“This investigation has been a source of concern for the community,” said NWPD Sgt. Andrew Leaver.
Back in January, police were also searching a second scene near Tipperary Park, about a five-minute drive away from where the shooting victim was found, for evidence related to this incident.
However, in Monday’s update, Leaver did not provide any information related to that scene.
Both suspects have been released with strict court-ordered conditions, police add.
