A head-on crash between an SUV and a dump truck along Marshall Road in Abbotsford Friday morning left two people dead at the scene.

At around 11:30 a.m., the Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) was called to the crash site, where both vehicles sustained significant damage. The roadway was completely blocked by the two vehicles.

First responders worked to save the driver and passenger of the SUV, but both died at the scene. The dump truck driver suffered minor injuries and was treated on scene.

Although the investigation is still in its early stages, AbbyPD says the dump truck was travelling eastbound on Marshall Road when the westbound SUV crossed into the eastbound lane.

Marshall Road remains closed in both directions between Ross Road and Mt. Lehman Road while police continue their investigation and is expected to remain closed for several hours.
