Fire under the Arthur Laing Bridge breaks out early Sunday morning

At approximately 12:30 a.m., Sunday morning, Vancouver Firefighters (VFRS) received multiple 911 calls about a fire at Southwest Marine Drive and Hudson Street.

Smoke could be seen rising to the Arthur Laing Bridge.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found heavy smoke and fire coming from a boat in the parking lot.

Firefighters started to attack the fire and were able to put it out after an hour.

The cause of the fire is suspicious, and the Fire Investigator was on scene to investigate the cause.

Vancouver Fire Assistant Chief Keith Stewart confirmed that nobody was injured, and the Vancouver Police Department is conducting an investigation.

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) also responded to the incident, saying that the incident is under investigation by police and VFRS.

“Early investigation suggests that this is the result of suspected arson,” Const. Dareen Wong told 1130 NewsRadio.
