The Mission Search and Rescue Society says it was called out to rescue a man who had fallen “a considerable distance” in the East Stave backcountry Thursday evening.

“The subject was stable but had sustained injuries which made travel difficult,” MSAR said.

Crews found the man, provided first aid, and took him by stretcher to a helicopter for medical transport.

“Thanks to Contour Helicopters Ltd for your support,” the society said.

BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) says one ambulance responded to the incident and arrived at the Mission RCMP helipad to meet a search and rescue helicopter.

“Paramedics provided emergency medical treatment to the patient who was transported to hospital in stable condition,” said Jane Campbell in a written statement to CityNews.
