The 160-metre-by-80-metre flag — about the size of two football fields — can be seen across Metro and from the air on incoming flights to Vancouver.
A temporary installation, it’s expected to remain in place through Canada Day, subject to weather conditions and continuing monitoring. When it’s taken down, the flag will be donated to a local non-profit group and repurposed into quilts and bags, according to Grouse Mountain staff.

Staff say the flag weighs about 1,500 kilograms and took more than 100 people to install.
The installation is in partnership with Blast Media Print, which produced the flag and is working with adjudicators from Guinness World Records to secure a record for the largest flag unfurled on a mountain.
Funding for the flag also came from Destination Vancouver and Destination B.C.
