Officers used a drone to help complete a search of the area.

The suspicious item was located and NWPD determined it to be a butane lighter in the shape of a grenade.

Once police discovered there was no threat, the park was reopened.

“These lighters are as foolish as they are dangerous,” stated Sgt. Andrew Leaver.

“These create unnecessary fear. Nothing about them is clever or funny.”
