A Coquitlam man is facing several firearms-related charges following a lengthy investigation by the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia’s (CFSEU-BC) Illegal Firearm Enforcement Team (IFET).

Police said a 35-year-old man became the subject of an arrest warrant in June as part of the investigation.

On July 16, investigators executed search warrants at properties in Coquitlam and Surrey in connection with the warrant.

During the searches, officers seized two firearms: a Beretta 92FS .22-calibre handgun and a Beretta M9A3 9 mm handgun.

The man has been charged with:

• Two counts of possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm without the required authorization, licence and registration certificate.
• Two counts of possessing a prohibited firearm at a location not authorized 
• Two counts of improperly storing a restricted firearm 

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 10.
