A North Vancouver elementary school is clear, and class is in session after a brief scare involving a person with a weapon Tuesday morning.
The RCMP says officers were called to the Blueridge neighbourhood before school hours for a report of a distraught person with a weapon.
As a precaution, students and staff were held inside Seymour Heights Elementary and a nearby daycare was brought into the school’s library.
The Mounties say the incident started at a nearby home and ended up outside in the neighbourhood.
One person was arrested, but police say no one was hurt and the there is no ongoing danger to the public.
In a message to parents, Cindy Hudson, principal of Seymour Heights, says there was also a police presence at Blueridge Elementary School.
She describes the person as a “youth in distress,” and says there was no threat to the community at any time.
