A North Vancouver man is facing child exploitation-related charges following a lengthy investigation by the Port Moody Police Department.

Police say they first received information in the spring of 2025 alleging that a vulnerable youth had been sexually exploited by a Lower Mainland man. The investigation was led by the department’s Major Crime Section.

As a result of the investigation, 58-year-old Majid Talebi was arrested and subsequently charged.

The BC Prosecution Service approved three charges against Talebi on Aug. 11, including one count of invitation to sexual touching of a person under the age of 16 and two counts of telecommunication to lure a child under the age of 16.

“This was a very complex and sensitive investigation carried out by our Major Crime Section, which included a tandem civil forfeiture process,” said Const. Sam Zacharias in a statement.

“Detectives worked diligently over the past year to collect evidence and bring this matter before the courts,” Zacharias added.

Talebi made his first court appearance in Port Coquitlam Provincial Court on Wednesday morning.

A publication ban has been imposed on the case because the alleged victim is a minor.
