The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) says it is investigating after an accident involving a small aircraft near Mission Wednesday.
Mission RCMP have stated that while the investigation is in the early stages, one person died in the crash. The deceased, a 22-year-old man, was the sole occupant of the small plane that was conducting a training flight.
BC Emergency Health Services (EHS) says it was called to the accident site on Stave Lake Road, just north of Hartley Road in Hatzic, around 10:30 p.m.
“An ambulance with primary care paramedics, an ambulance with advanced care paramedics, and a paramedic supervisor attended the scene,” EHS paramedic public information officer Brian Twaites told CityNews.
“No patients were transported to hospital.”

In a news release Thursday, the board says it will gather information and assess what happened.
The TSB is Canada’s independent federal agency that investigates safety-related incidents involving air, marine, pipeline, and rail transportation.
